A small chair or a round lounge seat?

Big Joe Milano is our more practical starting point for a compact, movable extra chair. Sofa Sack 4ft is the better candidate if you specifically want a round foam seat with more room to curl up. The distinction is shape as much as price. Choose the seating position first, then compare the amount you will pay.

Big Joe makes foam-filled Fuf products too, so a brand-wide claim that Big Joe uses beads would be wrong. Here we are comparing the adult Milano with the 4-foot Sofa Sack. Those named models make the differences concrete and prevent features from one product line being accidentally applied to another.

How much room the seats occupy

The Milano product page lists a 30.5-by-28-inch footprint and a shaped back. Sofa Sack lists a roughly 48-by-48-inch footprint and foam filling. The latter needs materially more floor space even though both might appear in the same budget shopping results. Measure the area where your feet will go as well as the bag itself.

For a dorm, imagine two people using the room at the same time: one at the desk, one in the lounge chair. The smaller option may preserve enough circulation to make the arrangement work. In a basement media room, the wider foam seat may be easier to justify because it is not competing with the only desk or wardrobe.

Cleaning and filling change the ownership cost

Milano has a non-removable cover and is spot-cleaned. Big Joe sells replacement bead packs for refilling. That makes fabric selection particularly relevant: choose a finish you are comfortable maintaining where snacks, drinks, and shoes will be nearby. A cheap seat is less attractive if its care requirements conflict with how the room is used.

Sofa Sack’s FAQ explicitly says its direct-fill products are spot-clean only, despite generic washable-microsuede language on the product page. Follow the product-specific care instructions and confirm any replacement cover separately. Similar product names and photographs do not establish identical liner construction, care requirements, or cover compatibility across retailers.

Where we would spend the money

Choose Milano for an inexpensive seat that needs to be moved aside frequently and used mainly upright. Choose the 4-foot Sofa Sack when a wider foam lounge shape is the purpose of the purchase. We would avoid paying more for extra size unless the person using it will benefit from the additional room.

Good Housekeeping named Milano its value selection in its 2025 beanbag guide. That offers outside context, but it does not tell you today’s cheapest retailer or settle a direct comparison with this Sofa Sack. Compare shipping, the correct size, refill or replacement-cover availability, and the cost of returning an expanded item before treating a sale badge as the answer.
