Beanbag Replacement Covers: How to Find the Right Fit
Find a beanbag replacement cover that fits your model. Check labels, dimensions, liner condition, return terms and whether a cover-only purchase is worthwhile.

Buy for the exact insert, then choose the fabric
The best starting point for a beanbag replacement cover is the chair’s model and size label, followed by a manufacturer-confirmed compatibility match. A cover advertised as “large” or “6 foot” is not enough. Check that the listing includes only the outer cover, and confirm that your existing liner and filling are worth keeping.
A replacement can solve a worn surface, a color change or the need for a spare during laundry. It does not automatically repair a leaking liner, a broken closure or an uncomfortable filling configuration. Decide what you want to improve before comparing fabric swatches or sale prices.
Make a record of what you already own
Find the original order and photograph the labels on the cover and insert, wherever they are accessible without opening the filling compartment. Record the complete model name, size, product code and approximate purchase year. Older versions may need a compatibility check even when the current model name sounds familiar.
Then note the shape: round, rectangular, pear-shaped or convertible. Measure the chair in its normal unoccupied form and photograph the seam layout. Measurements are a cross-check for the seller, not a replacement for model identification. Our beanbag size guide explains why width, height, length and occupied footprint should remain separate.
- Keep the insert or chair label distinct from a fabric color code.
- Record whether the current cover is removable while the filling stays sealed.
- Photograph any ties, internal attachments or shaped panels used by the existing cover.
- Ask the seller which measurements it needs before flattening or stretching a cover to measure it.
Match the construction, not just the diameter
Jaxx’s Cocoon 6 replacement-cover listing explicitly identifies the compatible Cocoon 6 chair and lists its dimensions as 72 by 72 by 20 inches. That model-specific statement is more useful than a marketplace title saying “fits most six-foot beanbags.” A similarly wide chair may have different side panels, height or zipper placement.
Yogibo’s Max additional-cover listing likewise identifies a cover cut for the Max. Do not turn that claim into compatibility with every large rectangular lounger. A cover’s stretch, panel shape and fastening arrangement all belong in the fit check, alongside the size printed in the headline.
Sometimes compatibility spans more than one model family, but it should be documented. CordaRoy’s cover-compatibility guidance says a Queen insert can use its Queen Original or NEST cover. Keep that statement within the named brand and size; it does not establish that a different company’s “queen” cover will fit.
Choose the repair that addresses the problem
Compare the condition of the three components separately: visible cover, sealed liner and filling. If only the outside is worn and the seat still works for you, a compatible cover is the focused purchase. If several components need work, price them together before deciding that a cover is the economical option.
| Existing condition | What to investigate | What a cover alone changes |
|---|---|---|
| Comfortable insert; faded outer fabric | Compatible cover and color sample | Appearance and the external surface |
| Good chair; frequent cover washing | A second compatible washable cover | Availability while one cover is drying |
| Low seat; intact outer cover | Filling diagnosis and authorized top-up | May leave the underlying issue unresolved |
| Damaged liner or closure | Manufacturer repair or replacement advice | Does not restore the damaged containment layer |
| Unidentified older chair | Label photos and written fit confirmation | No dependable fit until compatibility is resolved |
Read the cover-only offer carefully
Confirm the contents in writing: outer cover, liner, filling and accessories are separate items unless the listing explicitly bundles them. A styled photograph of a complete chair can illustrate a cover-only product. Check the selected size and fabric in the cart rather than relying on the image.
Compare the delivered cover price with the complete cost of any other work the chair needs. Include shipping, required parts and the return cost if fit is uncertain. Custom fabrics, clearance items or opened covers may have different return conditions; read the terms attached to that exact purchase.
Once compatibility is settled, use our beanbag cover materials guide to compare texture and care requirements. Ask for a sample when color matching matters. A familiar fabric name does not prove that a new cover uses the same composition or care instructions as the old one.
Trial-fit it without forcing a mismatch
Keep packaging and labels while checking the new cover under the seller’s return conditions. Follow the supplied installation sequence with the filling enclosed. Align the intended panels, corners and attachment points before closing the zipper; do not use the zipper to pull an obviously undersized cover into shape.
Yogibo’s fitting instructions describe matching corners and closing the cover progressively. Other models may require a different sequence. If fit still looks wrong, stop and send photos to the seller before washing, altering seams or changing the amount of filling. Preserve all child-resistant closure features during the swap.
Finally, keep the new cover’s care label with your chair records and follow our beanbag cleaning guide when it needs washing. Saving the confirmed product code now makes the next replacement much easier to identify.
